A three-year-old company by the name Orbital Assembly has declared that it will commence and complete the construction of humanity’s first outer space hotel in this decade.
The firm will initiate building voyager station in lower Earth orbit in 2025 and this 'out-of-the-world’ resort might be operational from 2027 onwards.
The hotel will have individual pods attached to rotating wheels and tubes connecting to different areas that form an X. Several facilities like a cinema, health spa, themed restaurants, gyms, concert venues, Earth-viewing bars and lounges along with rooms for 400 people will be available in this celestial resort.
Basic necessities such as crew quarters, power, air and water will also be made available. The company is looking to sell certain portions of this hotel to permanent stakeholders. They are also targeting government agencies as potential associates as the latter can use this site as training centres.
It can also be used by landlords that are considering creating a villa aboard the craft. The hotel is slated to circle the globe in every 90 minutes and this rotation will create a moon-like artificial gravity, New York Post reports.
Apparently, this rotation aspect is quite instrumental given that people cannot be on a space station for a long time without gravity and Orbital Assembly plans to make stays of multiple months on the Voyager a reality.
Construction costs of this entire project are yet to be revealed. The company will first complete some gravity-related testing and then a robot named STAR (Structure Trust Assembly Robot) will build the Voyager’s frame in the orbit.
