Preparing for a possibility of a scathing third wave of COVID-19, Uttar Pradesh (UP) government is planning to identify and prioritise the vaccination of parents of kids who are under ten years of age, reports Indian Express.
The move is aimed at providing a safety cover to every household of the State. The development was announced by Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath yesterday (22 May) when he was visiting Saifai which is the native village of his political rival and former CM Akhilesh Yadav.
CM Yogi Adityanath also shared, “We wish to increase vaccination by more than double by the next month to ensure maximum coverage.”
Sharing other decisions of the State Government, CM Yogi Adityanath said, “For the possible third wave, we have asked every medical college to set up a 100-bed paediatric ICU. More than 300 oxygen plants are either under construction or are proposed.” He added that this was being done to ensure that every district would be self-dependent when it comes to oxygen supply.
CM Yogi Adityanath also inspected the UP University of Medical Sciences. During the inspection of the Saifai based medical university, he also slammed the opposition who had questioned the efficacy of indigenous COVID-19 vaccines.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
