Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon after landing at Nimmoo on Friday (4 July) performed the Sindhu Darshan Puja at the banks of the River Sindhu (Indus).

A video of the Pujan was shared by ANI where-in Prime Minister Modi can be seen flanked by two priests as he undertakes Hindu rituals to worship the holy river.
In the video one can also hear the sound of the Conch reverberating on the ghat as one gets a glimpse of magnificent mountains towering in the distance.

Prime Minister Modi in his speech to the Indian Armed Forces at Nimmoo had also invoked the Sindu river by saying that, "this land turned holy due to the blessing of the Sindhu river".
The Sindu river which is now known as Indus is one of India's holiest rivers, it finds prominent mention in the Rig Veda. Every year thousands of devotees throng to Ladakh to perform the Sindhu Darshan Yatra.
