In a strange incident, the guard of the Mangaluru-bound Eranad Express was left behind as the train departed from Trikaripur station in Kasargod district, according to Mathrubhumi. The guard had gotten off the train after passengers had pulled the chain due to heavy smoke and dust inside. While he was inquiring about the incident, the train left – before he could board it.
Looking to reach the next station to board the train, he considered taking an auto rickshaw, but decided against it as it would take time. He then boarded the Bengaluru-bound Yesvantpur Express before getting back into the Eranad Express at Vellapp Gate.
Crushed granite stones placed along the tracks from Trikaripur to Olavara are said to be the cause of the dust. The Eranad Express was the first train to use the tracks after the stones were placed, causing the dust flare-up.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
