Nafisa Attaria, a teacher in a private school at Udaipur in Rajasthan, has been sacked for her comments on social media following Pakistan’s victory against India in the recent World T20 clash.
The parent of one of Attaria’s students had seen the post and inquired whether she supports Pakistan. To that, the teacher replied, “Yes, I support Pakistan.”
This incident was brought to the notice of the school and the media by the parents thereafter and Attaria was dismissed from her job subsequently.
The teacher then issued a clarification on the incident by posting a video message saying that she and her family had divided themselves into two groups while watching the game.
“When Pakistan won, I updated my status and wrote we won. Later, when I started getting comments on the post, I realised the mistake and removed the post. I am an Indian and I am sorry if I have hurt the sentiments of people,” the school teacher explained, as reported by the Times of India (TOI).
The school and two other individuals have lodged a complaint against the teacher over the issue.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
