Vishvesha Thirtha Swamiji, the chief of Pejawar Mutt, passed away in Udupi on Sunday (29 December), reports India Today.

Swamiji, who was 88-years-old, was admitted to the Kasturba Hospital in Manipal for the treatment of extensive pneumonia on 20 December.

Honouring his wish, he was later shifted to the Pejawar Mutt in Udupi on Sunday morning on ventilator after his health conditions worsened on Saturday.

As per reports, former Union Minister Uma Bharti arrived at Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt early morning today to see the Seer.

Karnataka government has also announced three-day mourning following swamiji’s demise.
