UP To Expand COVID-19 Vaccination Of 18-44 Age Group To All 75 Districts From 1 June Onwards

In a fillip for the COVID-19 vaccination in Uttar Pradesh (UP), Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath led State Government has decided to open up vaccination for those in 18-44 age group for all the districts from coming 1 June, reports Livemint.
As of now, the State is vaccinating those in the 18-44 age group only in 23 of its 75 districts. Of the 23, seven districts had witnessed the roll-out of vaccination for the 18-44 age group on 1 May itself. These were Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Meerut, Bareilly and Gorakhpur.
Thereafter on 10 may, the roll-out was expanded to 17 district headquarters having municipal corporations and Gautam Buddh Nagar district. And then the roll-out was again expanded to cover 23 districts.
To date, the State has recorded the administration of over 1.62 crore doses of Covishield and Covaxin vaccines across all age groups.
Meanwhile, the State has to date recorded over 16.69 lakh cases and over 19,000 deaths due to COVID-19. Presently, the State has close to 85,000 active cases, while about 16 lakh patients have already recovered.
