West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday (6 August) clearly indicated her party’s opposition to Modi government’s order revoking provisions of Article 370 by asserting that they cannot support the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019.
As reported by ANI, Mamata asserted that her party would neither support nor vote for this bill. She claimed that the government should have spoken to all the stakeholders including political parties and Kashmiri residents before arriving at a permanent solution.
It was earlier reported that a few BJP workers were detained by the police in West Bengal’s Siliguri for celebrating the scrapping of special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.
The report also claimed that some BJP workers were stopped from celebrating in Kolkata’s Kakurganchi.
Yesterday, Trinamool’s Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien launched a vicious attack against the Government’s Article 370 order by calling it a “procedural Harakiri” and alleged that the constitution was thrown into the dustbin over this issue.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
