Video sharing platform of Google, YouTube, has expanded the test ‘Explore’ feature to iOS devices, Android devices and the web, the Economic Times reports. The feature will recommend its users relevant content based on their search history for viewing on Android phones, tablets, iPhones, iPads and web platforms.
According to TechCrunch, YouTube confirmed the test feature comes per ‘On The Rise’ recommendations and will suggest content from smaller and up-and-coming video creators. The function has already been made available to a “small amount” of testers.
The feature, which is also seen in social media platform Instagram, aims at increasing YouTube’s recommendations and include various topics that its users may not have noticed otherwise.
While YouTube has expanded the experiment's reach, the company has not announced a plan of rolling out the “Explore” feature to its users.
"For now, 'Explore' is still considered an experiment and the company is looking to gather more feedback before making a formal decision about the feature's wider availability," the report adds.
In July 2018, the test feature was released for the first time to only one per cent of iPhone users.
