Apple has announced that India-born Sabih Khan will take over as Chief Operating Officer later this month, succeeding longtime executive Jeff Williams, reported The Indian Express.

Khan, currently Senior Vice President of Operations, joined Apple in 1995 and has since led its global operations, manufacturing, and environmental initiatives.

As Chief Operating Officer (COO), he will be the second-highest executive at Apple under Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook.

Khan’s appointment is part of Apple’s planned leadership transition and reflects his central role in scaling Apple’s global supply chain.

The 58-year-old was born in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, and later moved to Singapore during his school years.

He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University, and a master’s in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Before joining Apple, Khan worked at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer and technical leader.

At Apple, he has been instrumental in launching new products and improving supply chain sustainability.

Jeff Williams, who has served nearly three decades at Apple and became COO in 2015, led the company’s global operations and was key to the Apple Watch’s development and its health tech expansion.

Apple, headquartered in Cupertino, is valued at $3.28 trillion and remains a leader in consumer electronics, with products like the iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch, alongside services like Apple Music, iCloud, and the App Store.
