India and Saudi Arabia on Thursday (28 August) held the seventh meeting of the Joint Committee on Defence Cooperation (JCDC), where both nations agreed to expand their defence ties and focus on joint production, industrial partnerships, and advanced collaboration, reported DD News.
The conference, co-chaired by Amitabh Prasad, Joint Secretary in India's Ministry of Defence, and Staff Maj Gen Saad Mohammed H Alkathiri of Saudi Arabia, assessed developments since the previous JCDC.
Both sides expressed pleasure that the majority of the significant choices made previously had been implemented.
India showcased its defence manufacturing capabilities under the ‘Make in India’ initiative and proposed training opportunities for Saudi armed forces personnel.
The two delegations explored opportunities for joint manufacturing and partnership in defence equipment.
The talks also covered new areas of collaboration, including cyber security, information technology, disaster management, and tactical communication.
The co-chairs acknowledged the successful conduct of Navy and Army Staff Talks earlier this year and agreed to sustain such exchanges.
The defence relationship has steadily deepened since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s April 2025 visit to Riyadh, which established a Ministerial Committee on Defence Cooperation under the Strategic Partnership Council.
