Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed concerns over the Bangladesh crisis, without naming the country and said, "Today, India's neighbours are on fire, temples are being destroyed, Hindus are being targeted."

Urging people to think about why such a situation emerged, he said, "Still we are not looking at the history to understand why this unfortunate situation emerged. Those who do not learn from history have a bleak future."

The UP CM emphasised the need to unify to work for Sanatan Dharma and said, "The construction of Ram Mandir is not a destination but a landmark in the journey, which has to be continued."

Adityanath asserted that the strength of Sanatan Dharma should be employed to build a society that is free from casteism and untouchability, the principles for which Lord Ram dedicated his life.

"Ayodhya's people are seen with respect. It is our duty to preserve and safeguard that respect. If we are successful in this direction, you will be respected for a long time. This is what double engine government is doing here," he said.

The UP CM was addressing a gathering in Ayodhya on Wednesday (7 August) after unveiling the statue of the revered saint, late Mahant Paramhans Ramchandra Das Ji Maharaj.

Ramchandra Das is a saint from Digambar Akhada and played an important role in the Ram Mandir movement. Born in Bihar, the saint passed away in 2003.

This was Adityanath's first visit to Ayodhya since the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) loss in the Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency, Ayodhya is a part of which.

Notably, the UP CM has taken it upon himself to win the Milkipur assembly constituency in the Ayodhya district, which was vacated by Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Awadhesh Prasad on winning in Faizabad.
