The Telangana government has taken significant steps towards the development of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) (southern part) project in the state, with plans now moving forward to engage project consultants for the preparation of a strategy roadmap, transaction management, and support for project monitoring.

The state Road and Buildings department has reportedly invited proposals to engage a project consultant.

In a push for the timely execution of the project, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed officials to expedite the land acquisition process, reported The New Indian Express.

The RRR is envisioned as an access-controlled greenfield expressway that will enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.

Stretching across 200 km, the expressway will be built at a radial distance of 30-50 km from the existing Outer Ring Road (ORR) and will connect key areas such as Sangareddy, Narsapur, Toopran, Choutuppal, and Amangal.

This ambitious infrastructure project is expected to be a major driver of regional economic development, providing a significant boost to agricultural and manufacturing hubs along the route, along with ancillary services like wayside amenities, Intelligent Transport Management Systems (ITMS), and utility corridors.

The RRR will play a key role in stimulating industrialisation, fostering balanced regional growth, and attracting private investment.

A Project Support Office (PSO) will be set up to manage the coordination of the project, offering support from the conceptualisation phase through to commissioning.

The PSO will assist with securing technical and commercial clearances, preparing presentations for stakeholders, and facilitating discussions with financial institutions, authorities, and social organisations.

The state government has outlined key objectives for the RRR, including transforming the Hyderabad region into a global economic hub, creating industrial and technology zones, enhancing trade and logistics connectivity, and promoting social and economic integration across the region.
