The Uttar Pradesh government has announced an investment of Rs 6,124 crore to construct ring roads, bypasses, and flyovers across the state in the 2025–26 financial year, reported PTI.

The initiative, aimed at bolstering road connectivity and improving traffic management, was confirmed by the state’s Public Works Department (PWD) in a statement on Sunday (25 May).

According to the PWD, a total of 62 projects have been outlined under a comprehensive blueprint for road network expansion.

Priority will be given to high density regions and those with heavy vehicular movement, the department stated.

The plan places a special focus on urban centres with populations exceeding one lakh.

In the current financial year it will build 62 bypasses and ring roads with priority in areas having a population of over one lakh, the PWD noted.

This infrastructure push aligns with the state’s broader development agenda, which includes the establishment of various types of industrial parks.

These parks will be developed with freight logistics and connectivity as central considerations.

However, the initiative explicitly excludes municipalities and councils already linked with national highways. In such areas, bypass and ring road construction responsibilities will rest with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The targeted development is expected to reduce traffic bottlenecks, enhance mobility, and support industrial activity across Uttar Pradesh.
