Nineteen vehicles from Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s convoy broke down late Thursday (26 June) night after being filled with allegedly contaminated diesel from a fuel station near Dosigaon village on the Indore-Mhow road, reported Indian Express.
The vehicles were refuelled at the petrol pump, unaware that the diesel dispensed was allegedly mixed with water.
Some stalled on the highway shortly after leaving the pump, while others failed to move at all.
CM Yadav was in Ratlam to attend a regional industry skill and development conclave, and the 19 vehicles were supposed to be part of his convoy on Friday (27 June).
The incident did not affect his schedule directly, but disrupted logistical arrangements for his visit.
Around 5,995 litres of petrol and 10,675 litres of diesel at the fuel station was sealed pending investigation.
District officials suspect the contamination occurred due to rainwater seeping into the diesel tank at the pump following heavy rainfall in the area.
The local food and civil supplies department quickly collected samples, which confirmed the presence of water in the diesel.
“Though the exact amount of water cannot yet be determined, the entire stock at the pump is being checked,” said Anand Gole, a senior official from the department.
A detailed report will be submitted to the Ratlam district collector.
