Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra appeared before the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee today (2 November) in connection with the 'cash-for-query' case. She is accused of receiving bribes from businessman Darshan Hiranandani to target the Adani Group.
Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai, said to be Mahua Moitra's estranged partner, commenting on her appearance said, "I can't comment on anybody else. It is a free country, and anyone can express their views. There are consequences to what people say, and at the appropriate time, I will certainly come forward and explain what has transpired."
Claiming that he is not afraid of anyone, Dehadrai said according to News18, "I don't allow myself to be bullied by anyone. If someone is attempting to alter the narrative by portraying themselves as a victim, the entire country is watching. I believe the public is very intelligent and understands what is happening."
The case was brought to the fore by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey by citing Dehadrai's "irrefutable evidence of bribes exchanged" between Moitra and Darshan Hiranandani.
Dehadrai is a Supreme Court lawyer and is engaged in a bitter battle with Mahua Moitra over the custody of a three-year-old Rottweiler, Henry. Currently, Henry is with Moitra. Moitra had earlier called Dehadrai "a Jilted ex".
Dehadrai, posting a photo with his dog on X, wrote yesterday, "The person accused of corruption and compromising national security is guilty of something far worse - and no - I’m not talking about the theft of my dog."
