Spotlight: A proud moment for India! President Droupadi Murmu unveiled the INS Vindhyagiri, a modern warship, in Kolkata today.

What's Special?

  • Project-17 Alpha: INS Vindhyagiri is part of a bigger plan, where India aims to build seven advanced warships. This ship is the sixth in that series.

  • Stealth Features: Designed to be less visible to enemies, using special materials and designs.

  • Power & Speed: Fueled by efficient engines, it can reach impressive speeds on water.

  • Advanced Tech: Equipped with top-notch radars to detect distant threats and armed with powerful missiles.

Why It Matters:

This isn't just about a ship. It's about India's growing ability to protect its seas and showcase its technological prowess. Plus, most of the ship's parts are made in India, supporting local businesses. Here's my colleague Ujjwal Shrotryia on the role of INS Vindhyagiri in safeguarding our waters.
