  • In yet another shocking case of fatal pet dog attack on strangers, a food delivery man lost his life after he jumped off a building to save himself from the German Shepherd of the client.

The incident took place last Wednesday in Hyderabad. The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Rizwan, 23.

Rizwan was admitted to a hospital with severe wounds and succumbed to injuries on Saturday night.

As per reports, Rizwan worked with food delivery app Swiggy. He was a resident of Sriramnagar area in Yusufguda. On Wednesday, he went to Lumbini Rock Castle Apartments at Road Number 6 in Banjara Hills to deliver a parcel to one Shobhana.

While he was handing over the parcel, the German Shepherd of the family pounced on him. Fearing attack, Rizwan ran for his safety but was chased by the dog. In panic, he jumped off from the third floor of the apartment.

Of late, there have been a number of cases where pet dogs have attacked strangers. This is a category of dog bite cases different from those involving stray dogs on streets.

In November, a six-year-old child was bitten by a pet dog inside the lift of La Residentia Society in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. As per the mother of the child, she was taking her son home when she entered a lift that was carrying a familiar family with their pet dog.

When the lift started moving, the dog lunged at the child and bit him. A first information report (FIR) was later filed against the dog owner on complaint of the child's father at Bisrakh Police Station.

In September, a similar incident occurred in Charms Castle high-rise in Raj Nagar Extension in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

A boy returning home from his tuition classes entered a lift carrying a woman with her pet dog. When the lift started moving, the dog bit the boy. The incident was captured on the CCTV cameras in the lift. An FIR was later registered in the case against the dog owner.

In another incident in September, a video emerged from Noida's Apex Athena Society in Sector 75 of a pet dog attacking a food delivery agent, Shivam, in the lift.

In August, a pet German Shepherd attacked a Zomato food delivery agent at Indiabulls Greens Marigold CHS in Panvel, Maharashtra. The dog bit at the man's private part. A video of the incident was widely circulated on the social media.
