2.0, India’s costliest film, helmed by Shankar and starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar has been breaking box office records since release.

After grossing Rs 500 crore in the week and becoming the highest-grossing homegrown Tamil film, it has now crossed the 5 million dollar mark in the US box office, becoming the first and highest Tamil and the third Indian film to do so after Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, as reported by International Business Times.

It has grossed Rs 600 crore worldwide till date, despite mixed reviews, which criticised its scripting flaws and low emotional connect, but praised the outstanding VFX and imagination by Shankar.

Its worldwide run also has been brilliant with it beating Fantastic Beasts 2 and Sylvester Stallone starrer Creed 2.

Its Hindi version has grossed Rs 154.75 crore after earning Rs 9.15 crore on its second Saturday, thus beating Baahubali: The Beginning’s record and becoming the second highest dubbed Hindi film. With it already beating the lifetime total of Thugs of Hindostan, it is expected to clock a double century and become the third highest grossing Hindi film of the year.

2.0 is also the second highest opening Indian film after Baahubali: The Conclusion, and the India’s highest opener of 2018, including all languages.

With its Tamil and Telugu versions doing spectacularly well, its expected to cross the Rs 1,000-crore mark aided with its humongous release of 56,000 screens in China in May, becoming the highest 3D release for any foreign film ever in the country.
