Vanathi Srinivasan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Coimbatore South started her padayatra to Palani from Eachanari Vinayagar temple in Coimbatore today (30 January) evening. Palani is one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga (Karthikeya). It is around 110 kilometres from Coimbatore.
The padayatra is being undertaken by her to pray for the growth of the party in the state.
While launching it, BJP state president K Annamalai said that she is a very determined woman and the party was grateful to her for undertaking this noble task.
She is expected to reach Palani on 3 February.
Srinivasan had won the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency by defeating film actor Kamal Haasan in the 2021 elections. She is a state vice-president and also the national president of the Mahila Morcha (Women’s Wing) of the BJP.
In April, Annamalai will start his state-wide padayatra from Tiruchendur in Tuticorin district.
