Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai will start his state-wide padayatra on 14 April from Tiruchendur.
The date is significant as it is the birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar.
While the padayatra was announced during the debate on his Rafale watch, the date was finalised today (20 January) during the meeting of the Tamil Nadu BJP state executive at Cuddalore.
Before the commencement of the padayatra, he is expected to release the receipt for the watch, his own financial details as well as that of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders and their benamis.
Last December, he had said that the BJP is doing deep research to find out all details including benami holdings and the studies till then have revealed a huge figure of Rs 2 lakh crore.
The padayatra would cover all 234 constituencies of the state in the one-year time period before the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
Tiruchendur, located in southern Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin district, is one of the six abodes of Lord Muruga (Karthikeya).
It is currently represented by Anitha Radhakrishnan of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
According to political commentators, the padayatra would be helpful for the BJP to take its message to the masses and build up enough momentum for the party to go it alone in the Lok Sabha elections.
