Continuing its action in the paper leak case, the Uttar Pradesh government removed the Police Recruitment Board's chairperson Renuka Mishra from the post.
Rajeev Krishna, who was Director General of the Surveillance Department has been now appointed as the chairperson of the Police Recruitment Board, while Mishra has not been given any charge and has been kept on hold.
This comes after several arrests last week in the Uttar Pradesh Constable Recruitment Examination paper leak case as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned of strict action.
The exam held on 17 and 18 February was cancelled over reports of the paper leak and the UP CM pledged to conduct re-examination within the next six months.
The cancellation has affected 48 lakh candidates who applied for 60,000 posts of constables in the Uttar Pradesh Police. The paper was allegedly leaked through WhatsApp
Speaking at an event, the UP CM earlier said, "If the recruitment process is compromised, it forces talent migration... We have a zero-tolerance policy against those who play with youth's future."
"The government has initiated its action... Now they will neither be of ghar, nor ghat (unable to find haven anywhere). The action against these elements will be such that it becomes an example," Adityanath said.
