Soon after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned of strict action against perpetrators of Uttar Pradesh Constable Recruitment Examination paper leak, the police made arrests in the case.
Identified as Neeraj Yadav, the accused is a resident of Balia. He earlier used to work in the merchant navy. The police are now searching for another accused who lives in Mathura.
The said accused had sent the answer key to Yadav, according to the Special Task Force (STF). The STF has also formed a list of those candidates who tried to cheat in the examination held on 17 and 18 February.
According to India TV, one Riya Chaudhary was arrested from Ghaziabad for cheating. Now the police are searching for Monu Malik and Kapil who helped her in cheating. They are known to be running the paper leak gang.
Earlier, another candidate, Satya Aman was arrested from Lucknow's Krishnanagar. Neeraj Yadav had sent him the paper on WhatsApp.
Speaking at an event yesterday, the UP CM said, "If the recruitment process is compromised, it forces talent migration... We have a zero-tolerance policy against those who play with youth's future."
"The government has initiated its action... Now they will neither be of ghar, nor ghat (unable to find haven anywhere). The action against these elements will be such that it becomes an example," Adityanath said.
The exam was cancelled over reports of paper leak and the UP CM pledged to conduct re-examination within the next 6 months. Candidates have been encouraged to lodge complaints at @secyappoint@nic.in until 27 February.
