NHPC Inks MoU With Himachal Govt For Execution Of 449 MW Dugar Hydroelectric Project At A Cost Of Rs 4,112 Crore

State-run power major NHPC Limited has signed a pact with Himachal government for execution of 449 MW Dugar hydroelectric project.
The project is a run of the river dam on Chenab river in Himachal's Chamba district.
The estimated present day cost of the project is Rs 4,112 crore and will generate 1,610 MUs in a 90 per cent dependable year with 95 per cent machine availability, the company said in a statement.
The MoU was signed on Thursday (25 August), following which an Implementation Agreement (IA) for the project was signed between the parties on Friday (26 August) at Shimla.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, NHPC chairman and managing director A K Singh, and NHPC director (technical) Y K Chaubey.
The IA document was signed by NHPC general manager Suresh Kumar, and Himachal government's Directorate of Energy director Harikesh Meena.
Dugar hydroelectric project (HEP) is a green field project and the project site lies between the Sachkhas HEP (267 MW) at its upstream (in Himachal Pradesh) and the Kirthai-I HEP (390 MW) at downstream (in UT of J&K).
