The Delhi University has introduced the academic calendar for its newly-launched MA programme in Hindu Studies, with classes commencing on Monday (20 November).

The Centre for Hindu Studies, inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh through a traditional 'havan,' is aimed at setting a benchmark in research for other universities in the country, according to Singh.

The curriculum at the centre encompasses a Major in Hindu Studies and a Minor in subjects such as Political Science, Computer Science, and Commerce.

Additionally, skill-based courses like Manuscriptology and Data Analytics will be offered in the first semester.

Prerna Malhotra, the joint director of the Centre for Hindu Studies, emphasised that the focus will be on imparting the essence of Hindu Dharma and Darshan, while also providing career-building opportunities in the chosen Minor discipline.

The MA in Hindu Studies aims to train students and foster critical thinking about the essence of Hindu Dharma.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Prakash Singh, director of South Campus, Amitava Chakraborty, dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Om Nath Bimali, joint director of the Centre for Hindu Studies.
