After Sabotaging Talks, China Says India's Statement On 13th Corps Commander Level Meeting 'Groundless'

After sabotaging the talks for disengagement at the remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh, China has called India's statement on the 13th round of the Corps Commander-level meeting "groundless".

"The remarks by the Indian side are groundless," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian, one of China's most prominent wolf warrior diplomats, said at the daily press briefing in Beijing.

Repeating the statement issued by the Western Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army on the talks yesterday (10 October), Zhao said the "Indian side still insisted on its unreasonable and unrealistic demands, which added difficulties to the negotiations."

"China is firm in its resolve to safeguard national sovereignty," he added.

No forward movement was made on the issue of disengagement at the remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh during the talks on Sunday (10 October), the Indian Army said in a statement issued earlier today.

The Indian statement says that the Chinese side did not come up with any "forward looking proposals" on the issue of disengagement and was "not agreeable" to India's "constructive suggestions" for the resolution of issues at the remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh.

"The meeting thus did not result in resolution of the remaining areas," the statement issued by the Indian Army read.

"The Indian side pointed out that the situation along the LAC had been caused by unilateral attempts of Chinese side to alter the status quo and in violation of agreements. It was therefore necessary that the Chinese side take appropriate steps in the remaining areas to restore peace and tranquillity along the LAC in the Western Sector," it added.

Earlier, Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane had hinted that China's continued deployment and construction of infrastructure along the frontier could lead to the 'LoCisation' of the LAC.

"...if they continue to stay there through the second winter, it definitely means that we will be in a kind of LC (Line of Control) situation (referring to the Indian and Pakistani deployments on the LoC), though not an active LC as is there on the western front," he said.
