As China Stalls Disengagement Talks, Army Showcases Landing Craft Assault Capability In Pangong Lake

Indian Army on Tuesday (16 August) showcased Landing Craft Assault capability in Pangong Lake along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh.
The boats can carry 35 combat troops at a time and can reach any area of the lake in a very short time
"The boats are maintained by the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army and were handed over to the Army by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today (16 August)," ANI reported.
The development comes as China continues to stall the talks over disengagement in friction areas in Ladakh.
Indian and Chinese troops are engaged in a standoff at a number of friction points in eastern Ladakh for over two years.
The two sides carried out disengagement process in several areas in the region as a result of high-level military talks. However, both sides are yet to make any breakthrough in ending the face-off in the remaining friction points.
Earlier last month, the 16th and the latest round of India-China Corps Commander Level Meeting was held at Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on the Indian side on 17 July.
However, the two sides failed to make any breakthrough in resolving outstanding issues on the remaining friction points in eastern Ladakh at the latest round of military talks, but agreed to maintain dialogue to arrive at a mutually acceptable resolution at the earliest.
