Indian Navy Rescues 36 Fishermen Stranded For Over Two Days In Bay Of Bengal

The Indian Navy has rescued 36 Indian fisherman who were stranded in the Bay of Bengal for over two days.
The rescue operation was carried out by the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Khanjar.
INS Khanjar, which was on a mission in the Bay of Bengal, safely brought back the stranded fishermen. They were stranded around 130 nautical miles away from the coast of Tamil Nadu.
The Navy ship supplied the fishing vessels with the necessary provisions and towed them for more than 30 hours, ensuring their safe return to the Chennai harbour on Friday (28 July).
"The Fishing Vessels Sabarainathan, Kalaivani and V Sami, belonging to Nagapattinam, TamilNadu with 36 fishermen onboard were stranded at sea for over two days due to prevalent weather conditions without fuel, provisions and engine breakdown," the Indian Navy said in a statement on Saturday (29 July).
"The ship post providing Fishing Vessels with necessary provisions, towed them for more than 30 hours, ensuring their safe return to Chennai harbour," the Navy added.
