One infiltrator was killed near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, Kashmir, on Sunday (6 August). Additionally, the body of a terrorist involved in an ongoing encounter since Saturday (5 August) was found in Rajouri.

The infiltration attempt was successfully thwarted by the Army and Kupwara police in the Tangdhar Sector of Kupwara. The terrorist was neutralised in the Amrohi area along the LoC.

During the operation, incriminating materials, arms, and ammunition were recovered. A search operation is underway.

In Rajouri distric, the body of a terrorist was recovered, and another terrorist is believed to be hiding in Gundha village. A joint operation involving the police, Army, and Central Reserve Police Force was launched on Saturday (5 August).

The unidentified terrorist who was killed had items with Pakistani markings, such as shoes and medicines, suggesting that he may have been from Pakistan.

Additionally, the discovery of raincoats and food indicated that they were prepared to survive in the jungles, according to Mukesh Singh, the Additional Director General of Police in Jammu.

The operation in the area is still ongoing, as there is a possibility that another terrorist is hiding there. A bag belonging to this individual has been found, containing weapons and ammunition.

So far, the authorities have seized an AK-47, two pistols, magazines, ammunition, cash, and other materials. Singh expressed confidence that they will soon neutralise the second terrorist.

The operation was launched on Saturday in response to a tip-off about the movement of terrorists in Gundha-Khawas village, Rajouri district.

To aid in the operation, special forces were brought in by an Indian Air Force helicopter. In addition, night-enabled quadcopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, and sniffer dogs were employed, as informed by Lt Col Suneel Bartwal, the Jammu-based Army spokesman.

In a recent advisory, the police have urged residents to avoid visiting the area and to maintain a safe distance of at least 2 kilometres outside its periphery.

Over the past three days, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed three significant anti-militancy operations, resulting in the loss of three soldiers and two terrorists during these encounters.
