Another Pakistani terrorist and close aide of Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar — Maulana Raheem Ullah Tariq — was gunned down by unidentified gunmen in Karachi's Orangi Town.

This marks the third mysterious shooting of terrorists involved in terror incidents in India's Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

The Karachi police has termed this as a 'targeted killing' and an act of 'terrorism'.

Tariq, a close associate of Masood Azhar, was shot multiple times by assailants who appeared familiar with the area while en route to address a gathering against India and Kashmir.

According to a report by the Economic Times, the investigation into Maulana Raheem Ullah Tariq's killing is currently focused on potential involvement by local terrorists and infighting among JeM members.

A recent wave of assassinations has targeted Pakistani terrorists associated with incidents in J&K.

Just four days ago (on 10 November), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Akram Khan Ghazi was reportedly assassinated by unidentified motorcycle borne assailants in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Ghazi, believed to be a key member of LeT's central recruitment cell, was allegedly responsible for radicalising terrorists who later infiltrated into the Kashmir Valley.

Another terrorist, Khwaja Shahid, the mastermind behind the 2018 Sujuwan terror attack on an army camp in Jammu, was found beheaded near the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) after his abduction last week (6 November).

Till October, at least 16 terrorists involved in anti-India activities were gunned down by 'unknown gunmen' in Pakistan and UK.

Riyaz Ahmad, alias Abu Qasim, another key figure linked to the Dhangri terror attack, was shot dead in September inside a mosque in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

The wave of targeted attacks also included the killing (on 20 February) of Bashir Ahmad Peer, alias Imtiyaz Alam, accused of orchestrating the death of Zakir Musa, chief commander of Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind, an al-Qaeda offshoot in Kashmir, in May 2019.

On 27 February, former Al-Badr Mujahideen commander Syed Khalid Raza was shot dead in Karachi in what police described as a targeted attack.

Additionally, Aijaz Ahmad Ahangar, a Kashmiri terrorist affiliated with the global terror group Islamic State, was reportedly found dead in Afghanistan's Kunar Province earlier on 14 February, allegedly killed by the Taliban.
