The Indian Navy has released exclusive footage capturing a historic moment as its two aircraft carriers, the INS Vikramaditya and the INS Vikrant, operated in tandem in the Arabian Sea.

The INS Vikramaditya, a modified Kiev-class carrier, became the Indian Navy's flagship in 2013 after being acquired from Russia. With origins dating back to 1987, the carrier had previously served in the Soviet and Russian navies before its transformation.

The Made-In-India INS Vikrant, designed and built by Cochin Shipyard, is the country's first indigenously constructed carrier.

It commenced sea trials in 2021 and is projected to achieve full combat readiness by the end of 2023.

Spanning 262 meters in length and 61 meters in height, the INS Vikrant features an expansive flight deck of 12,500 square meters and can accommodate a crew of 1,600.
