A look at the crashed aircraft, via X
This morning (4 December), a Pilatus PC 7 Mk II aircraft met with an accident during a standard training sortie from Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, the Indian Air Force said in an X post.
"It is with deep regret that the IAF confirms both pilots onboard the aircraft sustained fatal injuries. No damage to any civil life or property has been reported," the Indian Air Force added.
An instructor and a cadet were on board, Air Force officials told news agency ANI, who have reported the time of crash to be 8.55 am.
The Air Force has announced that a Court of Inquiry has been commissioned to determine the cause of the accident.
"Anguished by this accident near Hyderabad. It is deeply saddening that two pilots have lost their lives," Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on X. "In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with the bereaved families."
