The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has approved the detailed project report (DPR) for a 3-km railway approach line — connecting New Dadri Dedicated Freight Corridor station to the upcoming multimodal logistics hub in Greater Noida.

The rail project, valued at Rs 858 crore, is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).

Its objective is to enable efficient freight transportation between Greater Noida, Gujarat, Kolkata, and Mumbai within a 24-hour timeframe.

Currently, in the absence of any such connectivity, it takes 4-5 days to ship the cargo.

DFCCIL, which will develop the track, will soon initiate the process of selecting a contractor by issuing a tender, reports Times of India.

The Integrated Industrial Township Greater Noida Limited (IITGNL), will provide the Rs 858 crore funding for the project.

The rail link will be completed within three years, stated IITGNL CEO, Ritu Maheshwari

Work on the multi-modal logistics hub (MMLH) and multi-modal transport hub (MMTH) near Dadri and Bodaki, respectively, is expected to commence by the end of this year, as per recent reports.

The MMLH, covering an area of 823 acres, is intended to function as a cutting-edge facility for handling freight.

With a budget of Rs 7,034 crore, this logistics hub will feature amenities such as modern warehouses, custom clearance points, rail platforms, cold storage facilities, truck parking bays, and cargo separation areas.

Additionally, the rail yard of the hub will include 16 platforms, enabling industries to efficiently load and unload goods onto freight trains.

The IITGNL, which is developing the logistic hub with DMIC, is currently in the process of hiring a project consultant to oversee the tender preparation and construction monitoring.

“Acquisition of land for the logistics hub project is almost complete,” said Ritu Maheshwari.

Furthermore, as part of the project, the MMTH is planned near Bodaki. The selection process for a consultant to oversee the project has already commenced.

The Greater Noida Authority also recently progressed with the land allocation process for these projects.

The hub will be situated close to the railway station in Bodaki and will be accessible by public transport, making it easier for residents and visitors to navigate.
