The upcoming Ahmedabad Bullet Train Station on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor, also known as Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, is set to become a striking blend of modern infrastructure and traditional artistry, reflecting the vibrant cultural and historical essence of the city.

The station’s architecture draws inspiration from Ahmedabad’s skyline during the kite festival — the roof and façade resemble a vast canvas of colorful kites, while the canopy pattern is inspired by the lattice work of iconic Syed Siddique’s Jaali, according to a National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) press release.

Spanning approximately 38,000 sq m, the high-speed rail station will rise 33.7 meters above ground, built over platforms 10, 11, and 12 of the existing Western Railway station.

The project is designed to ensure seamless passenger movement through foot-over bridges linking the two stations.

Connectivity will extend beyond rail — the station will also integrate with the Kalupur Metro Station of GMRCL via lifts, staircases, and escalators, creating a fully connected urban transit node.

The Ahmedabad Bullet Train Station will feature two platforms and offer several amenities, including waiting lounges, restrooms, nursery spaces, and retail outlets.

Dedicated parking areas and pick-up/drop-off bays will cater to cars, buses, and auto-rickshaws separately for smoother traffic flow.

This building will connect directly with the Western Railway foot-over bridges (FOBs) serving platforms 1–9 and provide a passage toward the underground Kalupur Metro Station.

The station’s location also offers quick access to Ahmedabad Airport (10 km) and the Geeta Mandir Central Bus Stand (3.5 km), ensuring last-mile convenience.

According to NHSRCL, the structural work up to the track floor has been completed.

Current activities include mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) installations, interior works, façade mock-ups, and reinforced concrete track bed laying.

Once completed, the Ahmedabad station will serve as a symbolic gateway to India’s first Bullet Train corridor — blending the speed of the future with the soul of Ahmedabad’s heritage.
