9,000 Km Length Of Economic Corridors Envisaged Under Phase-I Of Bharatmala Project: Govt

The government on Wednesday (2 February) informed the Parliament that around 9,000 km length of economic corridors have been envisaged under the first phase of the Bharatmala Pariyojana.
"9,000 km length of economic corridors has been envisaged for implementation under Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I. Out of which, projects comprising length of 6,087 km have been approved or awarded and the remaining length is planned for award in next two financial years," Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
"As of now, length of 1,613 km has been completed and balance length is targeted for completion by year 2026-27," the minister added.
Earlier last year, Gadkari had announced that around 35 multi-modal logistics parks will also be developed in the country under the Bharatmala project.
The Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLP) being implemented by Road Transport Ministry will be developed under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) mode.
The facilities envisaged in this MMLP are warehouses, cold storage, inter-modal transfers, handling facilities for container terminals, and bulk/ breakbulk cargo terminals, among others.
