Adani Enterprises Completes Financial Closure For Ganga Expressway Project, Will Build 464 Km Stretch Of The 594 Km Long E-Way

Three subsidiaries of Adani Enterprises have achieved financial closure for the six-lane greenfield Ganga Expressway project in Uttar Pradesh.
The company will build around 80 per cent of the 594-km-long Ganga Expressway — the 464 km stretch between Budaun in the western part of the state to Prayagraj in the eastern part (151.7 km from Budaun to Hardoi, 155.7 km from Hardoi to Unnao and 156.9 km from Unnao to Prayagraj)
IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited will develop the 129.7 km stretch from Meerut to Badaun.
The Ganga Expressway is to be built under the design, build, finance, operate, transfer (DBFOT) (toll) basis under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode. When complete, it will become India's longest expressway to be constructed on DBFOT basis.
According to the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the concession period for the project has been set at 30 years. However, there is a traffic link extension provision of six years, including three years construction period, reports say.
The land acquisition for the expressway has been completed.
The expressway received environmental clearance in July this year. Around 68 per cent work of clearing and grubbing has also been completed.
“Clearing and grubbing work has already begun. We have a deadline to finish the project in 36 months,” Avanish Awasthi, the then chief executive of Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), had said.
“The expressway will change the landscape of the eastern part of the state. It will act as an industrial corridor and connect far-flung production units and agricultural production centres to the national capital. By reducing the travel time from Meerut to Prayagraj, it would provide a huge impetus to the perishable agri products industry and also act as a catalyst for the establishment of new industrial units, food processing units, the dairy industry as well as small and medium units in the region,” he had said.
The UPEIDA wants the project to be complete by 2025.
The Ganga Expressway starts from NH-334 near the Bijauli village in the Meerut district and terminates at Prayagraj Bypass on NH-19 near Judapur Dandu village.
Traversing through 12 districts — Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareilly, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj — the expressway would connect the eastern and western parts of the state.
The expressway will reduce travel time between Delhi and Prayagraj by nearly half, from 10-12 hours to just 6-7 hours.
