Bengaluru Metro Green Line: After Five-Year Delay, Nagasandra-Madavara Stretch Set To Open In August

By August, the much-awaited Nagasandra to Madavara line, on Tumakuru Road, is likely to be opened by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
The work on the fully elevated Green Line's northern extension from Nagasandra, which began in 2017, has taken over five years to complete and missed several deadlines set by the BMRCL.
The elevated line from Nagasandra to Madavara (formerly Bangalore International Exhibition Center-BIEC) will include three stations: Manjunathnagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara. This stretch will connect the city to the BIEC, a premier exhibition centre.
The stretch was supposed to be finished by mid-2019.
The BMRCL opened the extended line on the southern part of the Green Line from Yelachenahalli to Silk Institute on Kanakapura road in January 2021.

As of April 2023, the BMRCL has completed 92.54 per cent of civil works from Manjunathnagar to BIEC.
Land acquisition delays caused hinderances to the project. BMRCL has set a new deadline for the completion of work on the metro line, with the aim of opening for commercial operation in September.
An official stated that the delay in acquiring NICE land had impacted the project, but the matter has now been resolved and work is progressing smoothly, reports The Hindu.
The completion of the metro line will bring significant benefits to the area, improving connectivity and reducing travel time for residents and commuters alike.
