Delhi-Meerut RRTS: PM Modi To Open 17 Km Stretch From Duhai To Modinagar On 6 March
The Delhi-Meerut RRTS.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 17-km long additional section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor from Duhai to Modinagar North.
The inauguration ceremony, which the PM Modi will attend virtually, will involve flagging off Namo Bharat train from Muradnagar RRTS station on 6 March.
India's first Regional Rail Service, called RRTS, offers a first-of-its-kind rail-based commuter service for regional transit in the National Capital Region. The 82.15-km-long corridor system from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh is the country's first RRTS.
A 17-km long priority section of this corridor, between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, is commissioned for public use. Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot are its five stations.
Popularly known as Namo Bharat, the rapid rail operate at a maximum speed of 160 kmph, average speed of 90 kmph with all designated stops, making them semi-high speed train sets.
The Duhai-Modinagar North section will expand the reach of the rapid rail by 17 km, connecting Sahibabad near the Delhi border to Meerut with three stations: Murad Nagar, Modinagar South and Modinagar North.
With the inauguration of this additional section, Namo Bharat train services will be seamlessly available on 34 km of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, serving eight stations from Sahibabad to Modinagar North.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation, overseeing the project, aims to complete the entire corridor by June 2025.
