Delhi Metro's Phase-IV: CM Kejriwal Gives Nod To Signing MoU For Three Corridors, 65 Km Expansion By March 2026

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has given his approval for signing of a long-pending memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Delhi government, the Centre and the DMRC for the first three corridors being built under Phase-IV.
Under Phase-IV, the Delhi Metro is adding 65.20 km of new lines across three priority corridors in the national capital, with 45 metro stations.
Among these are the 29-km-long Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg and the 12.3-km Majlis Park-Maujpur corridor, both of which are extensions of the Delhi Metro's Magenta Line and Pink Line.
Further, the 23.62 km Tughalakabad-Aerocity corridor, that is being built as 'Golden Line', will connect the operational Violet Line and Airport Line from the respective ends.
"Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved the signing of an MoU between the Delhi government, the Centre and the DMRC," the CMO said, adding that after this, construction of these corridors will accelerate.”
Officials mentioned that the MoU is scheduled to be signed in the upcoming week. It is to be noted that the signing of MoU is a procedural formality only as funds are being released as per request of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
Further, the CMO said that the Delhi government is also trying to seek approval for the other three Phase-IV corridors pending with the central government as soon as possible.
Providing last-mile connectivity to residents, the corridors proposed but not approved include Rithala-Bawana-Narela (21.73 km); Inderlok-Indraprastha (12.57 km) and Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block (7.96 km).
While the approval for the Inderlok-Indraprastha and Lajpat Nagar-Saket G-Block corridors is currently in advanced stages, the Housing Ministry is collaborating with the Delhi Metro to explore the possibility of extending the Rithala-Narela corridor to reach Kundli in Haryana.
