The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has identified 1,100 hectares of vacant land for industrial expansion in Ghaziabad.

It has been marked in the draft Master Plan 2031, which is in its final stages, according to the authority officials.

The identified land chunks are located in Ghaziabad city, Modinagar, Muradnagar and Loni, said GDA officials, adding that the need for land for industrial expansion was felt after several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed at the Uttar Pradesh Investors’ Summit held earlier in 2023.

Rajiv Ratan Sah, town planner at GDA, revealed that investors seeking to get their maps approved can approach the authorities after identifying the land.

The land is purchasable and can be directly bought from farmers.

The authority forwarded 31 different MoUs to the government, receiving 51 proposals in response, 18 of which have already been processed in the first phase.

Sah shared that the master plan is almost complete, with state officials making some suggestions for detailing, which may take a few weeks to implement.

Once finalised, it will be presented to the GDA board for approval before finally being sent to the state government for final approval.

According to norms, nearly 45 per cent of the land under the master plan is earmarked for residential usage and about 15 per cent for green areas.

About 5 per cent of the total land is set aside for industrial purposes and 2 per cent of commercial use, said officials.

With 522 sq m of geographical area, the city has a master plan that designates land for different uses like residential, commercial and industrial, among others.
