Gurugram Metro: Work Advances As HMRTC Finalises Agency For Geotechnical Survey Of The 28 Km Metro Line

Moving forward with the Gurugram metro project, Cengrs Goetechnica has secured a contract for the geotechnical soil investigation of the upcoming elevated metro line, reports metrorailtoday.
After being stalled for six years, work on this project is finally gaining momentum. The metro project, which was conceptualised in 2016, has previously faced numerous setbacks due to frequent changes in its plan and route.
The line, essential to meet the city's growing transit demands, will link Millennium City Centre with DLF Cybercity, covering a distance of 28.80 km with 27 elevated stations.
The Union Cabinet of the Indian Government approved its construction in June 2023, following which, the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) issued a tender for the geo-technical survey of a 12.76-km section of the total corridor.
The contract involves conducting a geotechnical soil investigation along the partial stretch —from Millennium City Centre to Sector 9.
The geo-technical consultant would offer a thorough overview of soil and rock features, including test results and analyses, for each kilometre of the survey.
It is also specified that samples of groundwater shall be obtained from each borehole and chemical tests conducted to check the acidity of water, and the content of chlorides and sulphates present in the groundwater.
The survey will help in informing civil construction tender documents, guiding infrastructure companies in their financial bids, and facilitating the use of appropriate machinery, methods, and technology during the construction phase.
The corridor will run between Huda City Centre and Cyber City via Old Gurgaon connecting the whole city stretching 26.65 km.
Additionally, a 1.85 km spur will link Basai Village to Dwarka Expressway, incorporating one station to provide connectivity to the depot.
The estimated total cost is Rs 6,800 crore, according to the chief minister. The Union government will contribute Rs 896.19 crore, the Haryana Government will provide Rs 1,432.49 crore.
Further, the local bodies will contribute Rs 300 crore, a pass-through assistance loan will amount to Rs 2,688.57 crore, and the public-private partnership (PPP) component will be Rs 135.47 crore.
