The civil aviation landscape of Madhya Pradesh is set for a transformation in 2023 as the new terminal buildings of both Gwalior and Jabalpur airports are set to be complete by next year.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) has taken up the work to expand Gwalior Airport for an approved cost of Rs 446 crore.
It includes constructing a new terminal building of 20,000 sq m to handle 1,400 peak hour passengers, ancillary buildings, car parking, city side development and other associated works at Gwalior Airport.
The terminal building, ancillary building, car parking and other associated works, taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 274 crore, are projected to be completed by July 2023.
On the other hand, the upgradation of Jabalpur Airport at an approved cost of Rs 412 crore includes the construction of a new terminal building which was awarded in June 2019 with a projected date of completion in March 2023.
