The Buildings and Factories (B&F) business of L&T Construction has secured an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) order from the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Limited to construct a statue of Adi Shankaracharya.
To be called the ‘Statue of Oneness,’ the 108 feet high statue of Adi Shankaracharya will be built on Mandhata hill near River Narmada at Omkareshwar in Khandwa District of Madhya Pradesh.
The statue will be bronze-clad and placed on a lotus petal base made of stone, which will be placed over an RCC pedestal.
The sole height of the statue from the base, i.e., from the paduka to the apex, will be 108 feet.
The project is scheduled to be completed in 15 months.
The B&F arm of L&T Construction also secured a repeat order from a prestigious client to construct commercial office space of an approximate built-up area of one million sq. ft at Hyderabad.
It has also secured orders to construct Data Centers with a total capacity of 10.8 MW at Mumbai and Navi Mumbai within stringent timelines. The scope involves Design, Build, Supply, Installation, and T&C works for the Data Center and allied buildings.
On the other hand, the Madhya Pradesh High Court stayed the construction of the Adi Shankaracharya statue.
The court stayed the Rs 2,000 crore project till the next hearing, reports ABP Live.
The ‘Statue of Oneness’ project is seen as a dream project of Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan. Besides the giant statue of Adi Shankaracharya, it includes a museum dedicated to Adi Shankaracharya and an International Advaita Vedanta Sansthan.
