Maharashtra: Government To Build Five Double-Decker Bridges In Pune And Nashik With Rs 35,000 Crore

The plan to construct five double-decker bridges in Nashik and Pune has been finalised by the government, said Union Minister for Highways and Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari.
The Union Minister announced at the FE CFO Awards that "in a meeting with the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra, we have finalised the construction of five projects in the state. Of these four projects will be built at Pune and one in Nashik.”
The estimated cost for these double-decker bridges is Rs 35,000 crore. Of these, Rs 15,000 crore will come from the Maharashtra government, Rs 5,000 crore from the central government, and the remaining amount will be funded through public-private partnerships.
According to Gadkari, the ground level will include an eight-lane road, a bridge with six lanes, another bridge with six lanes and then a metro line.
Gadkari underlined that the availability of finances is not a barrier, but rather the availability of raw materials, enhanced technology, and market availability of finished products.
He emphasised the necessity of lowering building costs while enhancing quality, and he reaffirmed the use of numerous alternatives for road, highway, and expressway construction in the country.
For commuters, the double-decker bridges in Pune and Nashik would offer a higher level of accessibility and connectivity. The initiative is anticipated to increase employment prospects and regional economic growth.
