Karnataka: MoRTH Sanctions Rs 343.74 Crore For Expansion Of Mangalore-Mudigere-Tumakuru Section Of NH-73

Aiming at enhancing road infrastructure in Karanataka, Road Transport and Highways Ministry has sanctioned Rs 343.74 crore for the expansion of the Mangalore-Mudigere-Tumakuru section of NH-73 in the state.
In a post on X, the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister said, "An allocation of Rs 343.74 crore has been sanctioned for the expansion of the Mangalore-Mudigere-Tumkur section of NH-73, transforming it into a 2-lane road with paved shoulders."
Gadkari said the project, spanning 10.8 km, is slated for execution under the EPC mode.
Negotiating challenging hilly and mountainous landscapes, particularly the Charmadi Ghat, this initiative is poised to substantially enhance connectivity in the region.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has identified 53 road projects worth Rs 2.1 lakh crore to be awarded on a build-operate-transfer model.
Out of the total 53 projects for a length of 5,200 km, bids for seven highways with a length of 387 km worth Rs 27,000 crore have been invited.
The ministry will come out with a modified build-operate-transfer (BOT) project document in the next one month to attract private companies for investments in the highways sector, the statement said.
At present, projects are being awarded on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) or hybrid annuity (HAM) mode due to various challenges in the implementation of BOT projects.
