Mumbai Airport's T2 Metro Station To Feature India's Tallest Escalator At 19.15 Metre

The international terminal (T2) metro station of Mumbai's Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro corridor, will soon house escalators that will be the tallest in the country.
These escalators will exceed the height of Delhi Metro's Janakpuri-West station's escalators that hold the current national record of 15.6 metre.
With a height of 19.15 metre, the new escalators will be roughly equivalent to an eight-storey building and will be installed at the 32.5 kilometre Metro-3 under-construction route known as Aqua Line.
Of the 14 escalators planned, four have already been hoisted, and eight of them will be of maximum height.
The depth of the CSMIA T2 station, which is one of the Metro-3 line’s deepest stations at 26.5 metre, is why the escalators must be so tall.
The world’s and the country’s highest escalators are installed in deep underground stations of the Saint Petersburg Metro in Russia, while the world’s tallest escalator system is the Hong Kong’s Central Mid-level Escalator, which is 135 metre tall and runs for over 800 metre.
India's longest underground Metro project, Mumbai Metro 3 project (Phase 1) is quickly approaching completion. It will connect Colaba, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), and Aarey.
The corridor will also offer connectivity to the Mumbai airport's international and domestic terminals while providing access to BKC's key financial district.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) recently announced the construction of the city's first-ever travellator. This facility will ferry people between the monorail station at Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk and Mahalaxmi railway station, in addition to the upcoming Metro-3 underground station.
