Namo Bharat: Over 10,000 Commuters Avail RRTS Service On First Day, Over 2,000 Downloads Of Connect App Done

Amid great excitement and fervor, over 10,000 commuters travelled on the first day of commencement of commercial operations in the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor.

The inaugural Namo Bharat train journey kicked off at 6 am and made about 68 round trips till 11 pm on Saturday (21 October).

The service received an overwhelming response from commuters, some of whom arrived as early as 4:30 am, eager to be a part of this historic journey, from nearby areas like Muradnagar and even from far flung areas in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Travelers from all walks of life including women, senior citizens, and children were among the first set of passengers. The Regional Rapid Transit Service (RRTS) stations, with their grandeur and state-of-the-art amenities, left passengers in awe.

Many were not only excited to board the train but also displayed remarkable curiosity about using the Ticket Vending Machines, QR Code Tickets etc. exploring the various features of the Namo Bharat trains and the RRTS stations.

Vinay Kumar Singh, managing director of NCRTC, along with other senior officials of NCRTC, warmly welcomed the first set of passengers of India’s first Namo Bharat train in the morning. They greeted them with flowers and engaged in conversations to understand their experiences.

The first set of passengers were also acknowledged as the 'First Rider' and certificates were provided.

Passengers, not merely content with enjoying their rides, also captured the historic journey through photos and videos. Some passengers even let loose and danced in the aisles, expressing their sheer joy and excitement of being the first riders of India's first Namo Bharat train.

Families and friends gathered, clicking pictures, taking selfies, and capturing videos, all eager to be a part of this historic moment.

Among the crowd, some office goers could also be spotted, blending work and leisure seamlessly. Children enjoyed the station and platform areas as the platform screen doors coupled with other safety features ensure a safe and secure travel for them.

The day was made even more special by the hospitable and welcoming gestures of the RRTS staff and officers present. Their unwavering dedication was evident as they assisted customers at every point with unmatched zeal, turning the journey into a memorable experience.

To provide last mile connectivity to the passengers NCRTC ensured availability of electric auto rickshaws under RRTS Feeder services by roping in service providers stations. DTC has also started an AC electric bus service from Anand Vihar to Sahibabad station at a frequency of 20 minutes.

The first AC electric bus will depart from Anand Vihar ISBT at 6.20 am while the last at 9.35 pm. From Sahibabad it will be available from 7.05 am to 22:20 pm.

Many travelers used the RRTS Connect App for the seamless booking of their train journeys. The app's user-friendly interface and efficiency garnered praise from users. Over 2,000 downloads of the RRTS Connect App were witnessed on day one.
