NHAI Creates World Record By Constructing 75 Km Single Lane Continuous Bituminous Concrete Road On Section Of NH-53

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has set a new Guinness World Record by constructing a 75 km continuous bituminous concrete in single lane on the section of NH-53 between Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh to Akola in Maharashtra within five days.
The record was previously achieved by Public Works Authority - ASHGHAL (Qatar) on 27 February 2019. The road was part of the Al-Khor Expressway and it had taken 10 days to complete the task.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari took to Twitter on Tuesday (7 June) to inform about NHAI's achievement. He said that the 75 Km single lane continuous Bituminous Concrete Road is equivalent to 37.5 Km of 2-Lane Paved shoulder road.
The minister added that the team of 800 NHAI employees and 720 workers including team of independent consultants were involved in the job that started on 3 June at 7.27 am and was completed on 7 June at 5:00 pm.
The work was completed in record time of 105 Hours and 33 minutes, Gadkari said.
The Amravati to Akola section is the part of National Highway-53 and an important East-West corridor, he added.
Passing through mineral rich region of the country, the section connects major cities like Kolkata, Raipur, Nagpur, Akola, Dhule, and Surat.
Gadkari congratulated the NHAI team, consultants and concessionaire Rajpath Infracon Private Limited and Jagdish Kadam on achieving the Guinness World Record.
