Noida: YEIDA Signs MoU With Malaysian Institution For Development Of 100-Acre Education City Near Jewar Airport

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) intends to allocate a 100-acre land close to the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar to a Malaysian institution for building an educational hub.
According to officials, the Malaysian institution — Lincoln University College plans to invest Rs 2,000 crore in the establishment of an education city — comprising of medical college, hospital and several other facilities on the allotted land, reports MoneyControl.
YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh stated,” The land will be allotted in the institutional sector near the upcoming Jewar International Airport. The move will bring an investment of around Rs 2,000 crore. We will fast-track the process and allot the land to the interested party by the end of this month”.
As per the MC report, the university team presented its proposals to the YEIDA officials for an Education City planned for institutional growth in sector-9.
YEIDA officials said a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Lincoln University College and the Authority.
Lincoln University College's India Chapter executive director, B Abdul Rafeeq, expects the construction work to be done in two to three years and the university to be ready in a year.
The institution plans to commence the construction work for the proposed education city within two weeks of receiving the land allotment letter from the authority.
He added, “We will start the construction work within two weeks after receiving the land allotment letter from the YEIDA. We are aiming to start enrolling students from next year’s academic session. With such an Education City set up by a foreign university, students from India will not have to go out of the country to get affordable quality education”.
This will include development of a medical college, a 1,200-bed specialty hospital, a school, and university. The university will offer different courses including diploma and degree programmes in medicine, aviation, aircraft maintenance, finance and management.
