Praising South Central Railway (SCR) for its record goods earnings of Rs 11,000 crore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it is a "good trend" which will do well for the economic growth of the country.
SCR has crossed Rs 11,000 crore in freight earnings as on 10 February 2023 in the fiscal 2022-23. With this, it has achieved a new record in freight earnings, highest since inception.
Responding to a tweet by South Central Railway, the Prime Minister tweeted; “Good trend! Augurs well for economic growth as well”.
SCR had tweeted "New Record in Originating #Freight Earnings highest since inception! SCR Crosses ₹ 11.000 cr. in Originating Freight earnings (as on 10.2.2023 in FY 2022-23)".
Earlier, freight revenue of Rs 10,000 crore was achieved in 343 days on 9 March 2019.
SCR has already crossed 100 million tonnes of loading mark, and the officers concerned are striving to reach the highest freight loading by the end of this fiscal.
Railways has set a target of 1,700 MT freight in FY23 and to achieve this, all zones are trying to increase loading.
Recently a Vande Bharat train was launched from Secunderabad in SCR zone to Visakhapatnam connecting tow Telugu speaking states - Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
SCR has six divisions and predominantly serves Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and to a limited extent, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh states.
